Kayemba Mvula, CEO of Pivot LLC, is a data-driven, social impact-focused professional and an alum of MIT Sloan where he was the organizer of the 2022 Africa Innovate Conference. Though born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, he considers himself a native New Orleans, Louisiana. Kayemba has over a decade of experience in the U.S. and Sub-Saharan Africa working in the tech and social impact space; having worked for organizations such as the New York City Economic Development Corporation, the Vera Institute of Justice, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United States Agency for International Development (USAID). As a philanthropist and having recently completed training through BLCK VC, he is passionate about the need to increase and diversify venture capital investment on the continent. Given that he is passionate about data, Kayemba has also written a number of articles on the need for better data in Sub-Saharan Africa, to improve investment in both the public and the private sectors. His articles have been published online on several platforms including Future Africa Forum, Research World and the Harvard Kennedy School Africa Policy Journal.
