Marco Ribeiro Henriques

Marco is an eager learner and enthusiast about the challenges of fairer, more inclusive, and sustainable societies. He works as CEO of RESHAPE and as an Assistant Professor in higher education at the Polytechnic University of Viseu (Portugal).

He has an academic background in the legal field and accumulated experience in the justice sector in advocacy and public policy, R&D and in the non-profit sector, in several countries. He is currently taking his PhD degree at NOVA School of Law, after concluding undergraduate, masters and postgraduate courses in Portugal. He has also participated in several academic and research exchanges.

As a higher education and university professor, he currently teaches master’s courses for the specialization area of social inclusion law. He is a researcher with work published in Portugal and several countries.

His strategic thinking leads him to question the vision and objectives of public policies in justice, having collaborated in several programs as a consultant in the sector of social justice and prison systems. He is the national coordinator of the WISH-EU project and local coordinator for RESCALED in Portugal.
Marco has always been an engaged citizen, getting actively involved in volunteer projects. He founded and still chairs the Board of the General Assembly of the Human Rights Observatory, was coordinator of the Group of Jurists of Amnesty International in Portugal.

As an entrepreneur, he conceived and implemented several projects from scratch. He likes structure, method, and deadlines, as much as he likes traveling without plans, cooking, and doing CrossFit every day at 07:00 am.

He believes that success should be a shared result of collaborative actions. He is driven by impact and is motivated to develop projects that aim to impact not only individuals and organizations, but also society as a whole.
