Provenance Bio is a California-based life science company that produces collagen, the most abundant protein in the animal kingdom, without using animal inputs. Provenance employs a unique platform that innovates at the cellular level to create functional proteins in highly scalable microbes, allowing for a sustainable transition of how we harness proteins for various industries, such as beauty, food, pharma, therapeutics, and materials.

Summary

Provence Bio is committing to responsible consumption and production of collagen by creating a plan to reduce carbon emissions relative to traditional collagen production. This plan will be finalized by 2027 and 2027 will serve as the baseline year from which reduction goals will be calculated.

Activities & Initiatives

To better understand our carbon footprint, Provenance Bio will begin calculating our emissions according to World Economic Forum's Net-Zero Challenge including using alternative, sustainable feedstocks such as green methanol to produce our collagen.

Measures & Targets

Provenance Bio will measure success by establishing a carbon emissions baseline and producing a plan with specific targets for reduced carbon footprint relative to animal-derived collagen by 2027.
