Purpose

Who is buyVerde

We are a platform to help consumers shop what they believe in. We believe social impact goes beyond “sustainability.” It means buying products from businesses that support positive change for people, animals and the planet.

Only about 20% of the 12,000 brands in our database are selling at a large retailer. That makes it harder to discover amazing products from small businesses that are making a positive impact on people, animals ad the planet.

We want consumers to easily be able to find and shop from those small businesses.

The buyVerde Standards Board reviews a Brand’s Value Profile and – once approved – the products are searchable on the buyVerde platform. Updates are made in real-time via our Shopify app in a streamlined process, saving time and effort for small businesses.

We believe in diversity of values, some of which are supported by certifications. Our structure makes it clear to a consumer what a brand stands for! buyVerde collects the Value Profile, brands and products across 6 fundamental categories:

Through our proprietary database and search algorithm, consumers can search for a product (e.g., shampoo, dog treats) and find products from brands that match their Value Profile.

buyVerde commits to supporting diverse founders of CPG businesses with an ESG focus, raise awareness to consumers about brand values, and make it easy to find and shop for products from diverse businesses by building a Shopify sales channel by 2023.

Activities & Initiatives

buyVerde is building a Shopify sales channel to be able to easily onboard thousands of vendors in scale - including a brands' ESG values and associated product catalogue - with minimal effort and low cost to the small businesses. We are committed to onboarding diverse founders in an effort to 1) allow consumers to more easily find and shop for products from those businesses and 2) redirect consumer dollars to small businesses and away from large mega-retailers, which in turn creates jobs and reduces inequality (both racial and gender).
