Joanne Bauer is CoFounder of Rights CoLab and Member of the Interim Secretariat of the Task Force on Inequality-related Financial Disclosures. For three decades she has worked in the field of human rights and environmental values, collaborating with activists and thought leaders around the world to advance human rights ideas and advocacy methods — always done in pursuit of innovation. Since 2006, through teaching, writing, project development, and advocacy she has focused her efforts on business and human rights, including the protection of the human rights of people at work. Joanne is also Adjunct Professor of International Affairs at Columbia University where she teaches business and human rights and founded the SIPA Business and Human Rights Clinic, Senior Researcher at Columbia’s Institute for the Study of Human Rights, Cofounder of the Teaching Business and Human Rights Forum, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Inclusive Development International (IDI), Member of the Advisory Council of Accountability Counsel, Academic Advisor to Bank Track, and author of two books and numerous articles. Previously, she helped to build the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre from the startup phase, and was Director of Studies at Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs in New York and Founder and Editor of Human Rights Dialogue.
