Carl Nettleton is the founder of OpenOceans Global, a nonprofit with a mission of solving ocean crises by unifying and empowering global communities through sharing and visualizing accurate information and solutions, starting with ocean plastic. Carl has served in multiple nonprofit, governmental, and private sector role. He is an award-winning writeracclaimed speaker, and a subject matter expert regarding water, climate, sustainability, the ocean, and binational U.S. Mexico affairs. For more than 25 years, Carl played a major role in addressing large infrastructure-related regional issues including the airport, water, waste water, and storm water.  In addition OpenOceans Global, he formed Nettleton Strategies, a consulting firm working on difficult issues. He also serves on the national and California advisory councils for Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2), a national, nonpartisan group of business owners, investors and others who advocate for policies that are good for the economy and good for the environment. He is the co-chair of the San Diego Water Conservation Action Committee (CAC). Other business memberships include Lambda Alpha, the South County Economic Development Council and the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce. As a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of San Diego and a board member of the club’s foundation, Carl helps to serve the local community through philanthropy and service.  Nettleton Strategies is also a member of the  U.S.-Mexico Border Philanthropy Partnership (BPP), a non-profit “cultivating leadership, philanthropy and collaboration along the border.”
