We believe it is vital to state clearly to the world the set of our beliefs about Inclusive Capitalism. As such, we start with our Statement of Guiding Principles for Inclusive Capitalism. Knowing that words alone are not enough, each of us is making a series of commitments about how we will operate our institutions so that they help achieve Inclusive Capitalism. These commitments are forward-looking statements based on current goals, expectations and assumptions, which are not guarantees of future performance. Summary

MannBenham Advocates is committed to ensuring that all clients and employees are treated with dignity and respect and treat others in the same way, not just for 2021 but beyond.

Activities & Initiatives

We believe that all employees have the right to work in an environment that is free from any form of harassment and/or bullying, whether in the workplace or outside the workplace in a work-related context, such as on business trips, customer or supplier events, or work-related social events. We ensure all our employees are aware of our Harassment and Bullying Policy to ensure that they understand what types of behavior are unacceptable, and to understand the procedure to be followed if they need to informally or formally report an incident.

Measures & Targets

As a company that cares about everyone, not just those who work within the office environment, but external stakeholders as well, we wish to ensure that everyone:

  • Acknowledges each person’s basic dignity
  • Has empathy for every person’s life situation
  • Listens to and encourage each other’s opinions and input
  • Is aware, appreciates and acknowledges other people’s contributions
  • Avoids gossip, teasing, and other unprofessional behavior
  • Encourages everyone to emulate the actions of someone they consider respectful
  • Ensures everyone is aware, understands, and is able to follow our policies and procedures

We have successfully fostered a culture of mutual respect in our workplace, which is evident by the longevity of staff and the spirit of friendship and the feeling of community we all share. We encourage everyone to be open, and welcome discussion, ideas, and vision. As part of our ethos and our culture, we will work with all our stakeholders, both internally and externally to ensure that they are aware of our working procedures and are comfortable in knowing that they can talk to any members of staff about their issues in order to create an open door policy, provide worth in contributions to the company, and avoid unprofessional behavior, by having monthly group meetings with different people leading the meetings. We are aware that not everyone will welcome change, and these things take time to evolve, so we will work with everyone, provide encouragement and reassurance when and where needed, to ensure that everyone understands our open door policy and that openness in the workplace becomes the 'norm' by 2023, and will be reviewed as part of our ongoing company diligence and governance every six months.

Summary

MannBenham believes that social inclusion is about improving society participation, through enhanced opportunities, and is our own human rights to have access to legal counsel by championing free initial consultations across the Isle of Man by 2022.

Activities & Initiatives

We believe that it is everyone’s human right to have access to legal counsel of choice, and as part of our client commitment we offer free initial consultations on all aspects of the law that are practiced at MannBenham Advocates. At MannBenham we not only offer free initial consultations, but as we see law firms moving away from working with clients that require financial support through Legal Aid - government funded civil law assistance, we embrace those individual clients that cannot afford legal advice or an advocate to represent them in the Isle of Man Courts.

Measures & Targets

As a company that cares that everyone has access to legal counsel, we wish to ensure that we are kept accountable to our promise on the Isle of Man. We will develop MannBenham Advocates as thought leaders for all Isle of Man civil law matters, from conveyancing to dispute resolution, by raising profile of legal counsel easily accessible to everyone using all the tools at our disposal. We have a short term objective to develop strategy and marketing plans by 2022 to roll out regular content on a quarterly basis to maintain presence of legal counsel and to ensure the Isle of Man is kept informed of the law, what can be done to help and to maintain accessibility to relevant key legal counsel. We will research, consult, draft and roll-out of a Client Charter by 2023, covering all aspects of Manx Civil Law, our promises to maintain accessibility of counsel, our commitment to working with Legal Aid clients and providing free initial consultations. We will review and maintain Charter document on six monthly basis. MannBenham Advocates will conduct independent internal/external stakeholder research on advice and customer service for the end of 2021 and continue to maintain annual feedback through surveys and focus groups.
