At Living Wage for US, our focus is on the shared value that living wage payment presents for employers, for workers, for communities, and for all of us. We create this value through leadership in research creating a clear understanding of living wages across the US and living wage benchmarks that are internationally comparable, but locally specific. We then use our unique total remuneration assessment tool to provide employers with a precise understanding of how their remuneration structure, inclusive of benefits might or might not afford a decent living for all their workers. Where gaps to a living wage are identified, we advise on cost effective solutions with crossover benefits on gender and racial equity goals. We then certify employers that pay their workers and contractors a living wage based on real costs of living So that they can capitalize on the enormous interest of investors and consumers to support living wage employers.
Our Standard was developed through a consultative process convened by Oxfam America, which included unions, labor advocates, leading employers, and gender justice organizations.
