Impact Investment Group

We are known as the Impact Investment Group (IIG) in South-Africa and are based in Sandton, Johannesburg. The group is primarily involved in large, private business project fund raising, and is involved in venture capital and private equity/debt opportunities and fund management for projects in South Africa, that contribute to human flourishing and economic growth. As an impact investment company, the Impact Investment Group of companies focuses on investments that, along with generating financial returns for our investors, also seeks to achieve a positive and measurable socio-economic or positive environmental impact. Four of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are where our focus lies currently, but we focus on many of the key socio-economic imperatives of Africa-relevant, authentic impact investing. Our team specialises in identifying African specific needs and challenges, as experienced by many citizens of this wonderful continent. Impact Investing is not a new concept and identifies investments that bring wider benefits to communities. Impact Investing must deliver both financial and socio-economic returns on investment. Some of the most rewarding returns are not financial in fact. Issues such as peace, justice, the gender matters and reducing inequalities, seem common “First-World” impact investing targets. We here at the Impact Investment Group, have directed our attention and resources to SDGs number 4, 6, 7, 8. These are Africa-centric problems, that require African solutions.

Purpose

We exist and partner with private sector companies for profit, who also contribute resources (skills and funds) to moving African people from poor to the middle-class in one generation. We commit these to African businesses that the people they employ can thrive, rather than simply exist. We focus on African solutions to UN Sustainable Development Goals 4,6,7,8 and 13, with an appropriate African flavor.

We believe it is vital to state clearly to the world the set of our beliefs about Inclusive Capitalism. As such, we start with our Statement of Guiding Principles for Inclusive Capitalism. Knowing that words alone are not enough, each of us is making a series of commitments about how we will operate our institutions so that they help achieve Inclusive Capitalism. These commitments are forward-looking statements based on current goals, expectations and assumptions, which are not guarantees of future performance. Summary

Impact Investment Group is committed to reducing hunger and unemployment in Southern Africa helping co-fund and establish 1000 owner-managed, commercial, small-scale farming businesses, in poor communities and in peri-urban areas by mid 2024.

Activities & Initiatives

We are currently working closely with the Rabbit Association of South Africa (RASA), to establish owner-managed rabbit farms that meet international standards (export grade white rabbit meat). We plan to establish 1000 new commercial farms (profitable businesses) by 30 June 2024. Each farm in turn, must employ at least one other full-time employee within six months of that business being formed. The experienced commercial farmers we have partnered with, place us in a strong position to achieve these ambitious goals on time.

Measures & Targets

Impact Investment will measure success by tracking and recording the number of farms established and new jobs created on a quarterly basis, for the next twelve months, thereafter on a monthly basis.
