Aviva Plc follows the Science-based targets (SBTi) methodology to reduce market-based scope 1 & 2 emissions. The aim is to reduce emissions through a combination of energy efficiency initiatives, installing on-site renewables, and smart purchasing of energy.

Aviva Plc measures progress by annually reporting on our scope 1 & 2 market-based emissions with an aim to reduce them by 90% by 2030, from a 2019 baseline.

Measures & Targets

Aviva Plc will measure progress by using carbon footprinting and carbon intensity data to assess the exposure of our assets, and measuring the portfolio temperature alignment to the Paris Agreement target, with an aim to achieve a 25% reduction in carbon intensity of investments by 2025*, 60% by 2030 and net zero by 2040. In addition we are tracking our investment in sustainable assets
