Alive Medical Services (AMS) is a Ugandan NGO that provides free, comprehensive HIV/AIDS/Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services to over 154,431 clients annually including over 100,700 youth, adolescent girls and young women, orphans, vulnerable and marginalized populations nationally.
Over the last 14 years, AMS has become a centre of medical excellence, serves on the Ministry of Health’s Technical Working Groups (TWG) and is one of Uganda’s single highest volume HIV clinics. AMS exists to provide comprehensive prevention, care, treatment and support of HIV and other health needs, for its clientele using a holistic approach that incorporates education, training, psycho-social support, and research.
AMS has offices in the districts of Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono supporting 33 health facilities in providing comprehensive and differentiated high quality HIV/AIDS and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services that empower adolescents and HIV patients to live high-quality lives.
AMS is supported by strong partnerships with the United States Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Infectious Disease Institute (IDI), Frontline AIDS (United Kingdom), Proctor and Gamble (P&G) USA and Keep a Child Alive (USA), a charity founded by the 15-time award winning Grammy artist and singer, Alicia Keys.
To date AMS have served over 750,000 clients with love and dignity, tested over 230,000 individuals for HIV. Over 17,000 tested positive for HIV and 99% were enrolled in care.
As a result of AMS outstanding and strong leadership, solid systems, and excellent services, AMS in the last 14 years of service has received more than 32 national and international awards. AMS has also pioneered a number of interventions like differentiated service delivery among others.
