Founded in 2021, Ownership Works (O.W.) is a first-of-its-kind nonprofit organization focused on expanding the adoption of shared ownership – or broad-based employee ownership programs -- across corporate America. Our mission is to increase prosperity for workers and businesses through shared ownership. We do this by partnering with and supporting investors and large public and private companies in implementing plans that provide every employee with the opportunity to become an owner in the workplace and benefit from shared success.
Purpose
Ownership Works’ mission is to increase prosperity for workers and businesses through shared ownership. We aim to catalyze a groundswell of interest in employee ownership across corporate America, and to provide private and public companies with practical models and tools to support program implementation. By providing all employees with meaningful wealth-building opportunities, we work to create companies and employees that are invested in their mutual success, and we help further economic equality, racial equity, and contribute to stronger companies and communities. We believe that providing all employees with a stake in the value they help create is not just better business and smarter investing, it’s also the right thing to do.
Alignment with Guiding Principles
At the Council for Inclusive Capitalism, we invite companies of all sizes, industries, and geographies to champion our Guiding Principles for Inclusive Action and demonstrate how they contribute to meaningful change. To ensure alignment with our principles, our members are assessed by at least one reporting body, sustainability-related certificate, benchmark, rating agency or similar organization.
