The Office of California State Senate President pro Tempore Toni Atkins is the leadership office of the California State Senate. The Senate is the upper house of the California State Legislature, a bicameral state legislature and one of only ten full time legislatures in the United States. The California State Senate employs 915 staff members and is headquartered in the California State Capitol in Sacramento, California. The Senate maintains forty individual offices for each Senator within the Capitol and forty district offices, one in each Senate district.

Purpose

During a legislative session, Senators consider matters introduced by members of the state Legislature or submitted by the governor.
