Construyendo y Creciendo is a nonprofit organization that supports the educational development of construction workers. The main objective of Fundación Construyendo y Creciendo is to address the educational gap in construction workers. José Shabot Cherem founded the organization in 2007 after realizing that on construction sites, there are qualified personnel, empirical knowledge and experiences that nurture the work of the personnel. However, even though construction workers are the cornerstone of the various construction and real estate companies, they have a significant educational gap, which influences their quality of life, economic remuneration and their personal and family growth. It is through a comprehensive educational model that is accessible to the needs of the community's workers that Construyendo y Creciendo has had success over the last 16 years. Construyendo y Creciendo has worked with an open and popular pedagogical approach that contemplates three strategic lines: permanent education, training for work and human development, and health education. Construyendo y Creciendo has collaborated with more than 80 development and construction companies, where classrooms are set up inside the buildings so that workers can study in the same place where they work, promoting entrepreneurship, productivity, individual and collective growth, as well as the sustainable development of the social actors of the communities.
