Summary

Century Pacific Food, Inc. is committed to achieving carbon neutrality for its coconut division by 2028.

Activities & Initiatives

Century Pacific  has launched a coconut-tree planting program in partnership with the country’s largest mobile wallet GCash and impact organization HOPE. The group aims to plant 1 million coconut trees, all to be donated to smallholder farmers in Mindanao. The trees will sequester greenhouse gasses, which will render the company’s coconut division carbon neutral by 2028. CNPF has supported HOPE’s agriculture program since 2014 with the aim of improving farming productivity and profitability for smallholder coconut farmers in Mindanao. Now, following the introduction of a GForest feature on the GCash app, more than 9 million GCash users can support the coconut tree planting campaign. Every virtual tree redeemed within the app will be converted into a real tree pledged to smallholder farmers. Through this initiative, CNPF can support farmers’ livelihoods, ensure a reliable coconut supply for both its business and surrounding provinces, and move towards carbon neutrality for its coconut subsidiary.

Measures & Targets

Century Pacific Food, Inc. will measure progress by reaching carbon neutrality by 2028.

Summary

Century Pacific is committed to sustaining its plastic neutrality program for all its brands that utilize flexible packaging in 2022.

Activities & Initiatives

Century Pacific achieves plastic neutrality through the Plastic Credit Exchange (PCX), a global, non-profit organization that offers a fully integrated plastic offset platform. CNPF purchases plastic credits from PCX in a plastic offset mechanism that resembles the carbon offset industry. This means that it is able to compensate for the amount of plastic packaging waste it generates with an equivalent amount of post-consumer plastic waste that is recovered and recycled or co-processed. PCX, through its wide network of vetted partners, collects the equivalent plastic waste from the environment and ensures these are recycled into new useful products or co-processed into energy often in lieu of coal. To guarantee the integrity and validity of Century's plastic offsets, PCX engaged a third-party auditor, Isla Lipana & Co. (PricewaterhouseCoopers), to verify the plastic footprint for the company's brands against its purchased credits. PCX also provides authentication that at least an equivalent amount of plastic waste has been recovered and recycled or co-processed. This completes the certification process with the documentation published in the PCX credit registry.

Measures & Targets

Century Pacific will measure progress by tracking its plastic offsets every year.
