We believe it is vital to state clearly to the world the set of our beliefs about Inclusive Capitalism. As such, we start with our Statement of Guiding Principles for Inclusive Capitalism. Knowing that words alone are not enough, each of us is making a series of commitments about how we will operate our institutions so that they help achieve Inclusive Capitalism. These commitments are forward-looking statements based on current goals, expectations and assumptions, which are not guarantees of future performance. SDG Focus Area(s):

Summary

Our firm will spearhead the passage of the Philippine Circular Economy Act by 2023.

Activities & Initiatives

Work with the Philippine legislators (Congressman Jose Ma. Clemente Salceda and Congresswoman Loren Legarda) in drafting the Philippine Circular Economy Act and continuously follow-up its status in the Philippine Congress.

Measures & Targets

Approval of the Philippine Circular Economy Act by the Philippine President in December 2023. The Philippine Circular Economy Act will accelerate the attainment of the objectives of the “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000” (Republic Act 9003) as it can help reduce solid wastes to a residual level. The Philippine Circular Economy Act will also put in place enabling mechanisms in the government bureaucracy and the Philippine society at large to regenerate and preserve the ecosystem for future generations while ensuring adequate incentives for businesses to adopt the circular model either as part of corporate strategy or ESG. The Bellen Management Consulting will assist in the drafting of the Philippine Circular Economy Act and its corresponding Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR).

SDG Focus Area(s):

Summary

We will spearhead the formation of Southeast Asia Circular Economy Coalition by 1st Quarter of 2022.

Activities & Initiatives

Promote and accelerate the adoption of Circular Economy in the ASEAN region.

Measures & Targets

Increase the membership to Southeast Asia Circular Economy Coalition to 200 composed of individuals (scientists, academics, industry practitioners) from the 10 member nations (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). This coalition will encourage the governments comprising the ASEAN to adopt the Circular Economy Model as a national policy to ensure the regeneration and preservation of natural capital while ensuring a robust and sustainable business sector. The coalition will also serve as a forum for exchanging innovative ideas and research findings on effective Circular Economy initiatives. Lastly, it will help the ASEAN Secretariat in drafting its policy on Circular Economy. Circular Economy is imperative at this time when we have vast islands of trash in our oceans and we are consuming earth’s natural resources at an unsustainable rate. In contrast to the Linear Model (from cradle to grave) we have at present, the Circular Model mimics the natural cycle of the biosphere that is from cradle to cradle. In implementing the Circular Economy Model, waste generation will be at most residual and natural resource extraction will be eliminated.
