The Conscience Of A CEO: The New ‘Moral Imperative’

“When it comes to corporations doing ‘the right thing,’ CEOs often find themselves at the intersection of philosophy, personal beliefs and the goal of achieving profitability for their companies. That challenge coincides with a growing belief among many corporate leaders and others that business has a “moral imperative” to act — and act now — to make the world a better place to live well into the future.”

WBSCD North America Executive Director William Sisson, writes that we must “reimagine capitalism” if companies want to stay in business for decades to come.

“… I think leaders must also consider — for their long-term benefit — their impact and any corrective action that must be taken to avert or reverse the effects of their businesses upon peoples’ dignity and equality, their health and well-being, climate change, nature loss and other factors for the benefit of everyone.”
