Prof. Mahendra Chouhan is Chairman – Mahendra &Young Knowledge Foundation Vice Chairman – Global Advisory Board, Asian Centre for Corporate Governance & Sustainability. He is also Founding Dean of The Mervyn King Academy for Sustainable Development in Asia. Mahendra is Board Advisor, Management Educator & a professional Independent Director. He is Consultant to IFC – World Bank Group and also holds a certificate by Global Corporate Governance Forum, IFC – World Bank Group, as Trainer for Board of Directors. He has conducted several board retreats and trained many board members. He has over 20 years of Board experience as Independent director on Public listed as well as unlisted companies, within and outside India from sectors like Banking, Financial Services, Housing Finance (HFC), Education Finance (NBFC), Online B2B Marketplace Company, Exhibition & Trade Fair, Manufacturing, Capital Goods & Pharmaceuticals. He has experience of Chairing Audit, Nomination & Remuneration as well as CSR Committees of different boards. He is founding Chairman of Fino Payment Bank (2017-2022), a new generation Phygital bank, which has a distinction of becoming India’s FIRST Payment Bank to get public listed.
Mahendra is Passionate about Good Governance, Sustainability (ESG), Sustainable Development Goals and spends a significant amount of time for non-profit work (pro-bono). Out side India, Prof. Chouhan is Member of International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC), UK, Member of the Global Board of The International Institute of Governance & Leadership (IIGL), Netherlands and Member of Independent Appointment Committee of The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Amsterdam, which is a 5 member committee from around the world responsible to select Global Sustainability Standard Board members. Prof. M.K.Chouhan is a visiting faculty at Tilburg University, Netherlands, SJSoM under Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and Jamanalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), Mumbai. He teaches /has taught, International Business, Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He has co-directed two directors training programmes at IIM-Bangalore and is also regularly invited by Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA – under Ministry of Corporate Affairs), to take sessions in Director Training Programmes.
He has written several articles and co-authored two International books on Corporate Governance, one published from Singapore and the other one published by Institute of Directors, London. Mahendra has an extensive network of highly influential professionals and friends from across the globe, yet ensures spending quality time with his family.
Mr. Chouhan has over four decades of valuable experience in Indian as well as multinational companies and management consulting. Over four decades, he has acquired deep knowledge and insights in the
way businesses are run in complex and fast changing business environment. He is Managing Director of a very successful board advisory consulting company – Mahendra & Ardneham Consulting (P) Ltd. He leverages Board insights to the advantage of his client companies and advises them on Corporate Strategy, Vision setting, ESG, Sustainability & Integrated Reporting, top level succession planning and managing growth. Mr. Chouhan advises companies on building cohesive & high performing boards and aligning corporate strategy with long term sustainable value creation. He helps clients on Board and CEO evaluation.
Mahendra lives in Mumbai with his wife Prof. Anita Chouhan and two adorable daughters, Bhoomika & Koumudi. Mahendra loves travelling and learning about cultures of different countries. He is widely travelled around the world and has learnt a great deal from the social, cultural and political backgrounds of these countries.
