Born and raised in Ames, Iowa, Evan received his Bachelor’s in History at the University of Iowa. Following graduation, he taught English as a Second Language in Vietnam for over six years before returning to the United States to teach at Divine Word Seminary outside Dubuque, Iowa. As a founding member of Dubuque Harm Reduction and a person in recovery, Evan is inspired by the resilience and compassion of the people he meets through his harm reduction work and looks forward to working with the Council to build a world where everyone has access to the resources they need to live life safely and happily. In his free time, Evan enjoys cycling, cooking, reading, and hiking near the Mississippi River.
